We, the Climate Media Factory, are leaving the social platform X because it has become evident that X is being used as a tool of manipulation and destabilisation. Under Elon Musk’s ownership, the platform has shifted from a bastion of constructive dialogue and community building into his personal megaphone.

The amplification of misinformation and the promotion of divisive narratives are not just accidental; they are systemic features of an algorithm that serves its owner’s interests.

By flooding the discourse with falsehoods and noise, X undermines reasoned debate, erodes public trust, and delays the urgent efforts required to address ground-up transformational climate action.

As the Climate Media Factory, we are committed to constructive, science-informed debate and the collaborative pursuit of a sustainable future.

Remaining on X would compromise the values we stand for, and so we chose to leave.
